Disposable/rechargeable batteries, chargers, and power cords
Power tools, mobile phones, clocks, toys, remote controls and torches are just some of the appliances and equipment that require disposable battery or rechargeable power. The simplest battery currently used in these products is the zinc-carbon batteries. They have a relatively low price that comes with a low capacity, compared to alkaline batteries. The main difference between disposable batteries and rechargeable batteries is that the latter are reusable by recharging. Rechargeability may seem like an advantage that should disqualify the use of disposable batteries, but there are many cases where disposable counterparts have an advantage. The service life of rechargeable batteries used, for example, in consumer electronics is adversely affected by low discharge currents, which directly reduce the battery performance, so their use in remote controls, for example, may not be cost-efficient. Their charging process (the charging current and time) also has a similar impact on rechargeable battery life. For safety’s sake, one of the simpler ways is to use microchip-controlled chargers that optimally regulate the battery charging parameters.
